Air transport in crisis and the climate challenge: towards new paradigms

Symposium objective

Like a groundswell, the challenge of climate change is shaking up our societies. Many are speaking out to alert public opinion, while others are proposing solutions to a public increasingly sensitive to the problem.

Against this backdrop, the air transport industry is being strongly challenged as to its ability to drastically reduce its carbon footprint by 2050, at a time when the prospects for its development still appear very great.

As with any revolution in usage, the demands placed on air transport provide it with a real opportunity to reinvent itself, since for decades it has been able to adapt and contribute to bringing peoples, their cultures and their economies closer together.
The Académie de l'air et de l'espace has decided to approach this major subject with independence, without preconceptions or taboos, in order to shed light on the strategies of the various players.

For two days, it will bring together climatologists, experts from the various industrial sectors concerned (energy, aeronautics, transport, etc.), as well as sociologists and economists from various countries.

Beyond professionals and politicians, this symposium is aimed at a wide audience, and in particular at the younger generation, whose highly committed representatives will be taking part in the debates.
