While Hurricane Dorian was threatening the East Coast in August/September 2019, the U.S. chapter realized that it would be useful for the ENAC community in the United States if we were sharing information from trusted sources and coordinate mutual assistance between members as needed during emergency situations. This need is especially real for newcomers and students in exchange, internship or dual-degree program who are not necessarily familiar with our country and do not have yet contacts established here. Last December, the U.S. chapter decided to make this emergency information and response initiative a permanent program to be activated when needed. We re-activated it last month for the coronavirus pandemic. A first advisory bulletin on COVID-19 was sent at the end of February. At the era of fake news and disinformation, we thought it was important to spread the word on safe practices and clarify some public information. For instance, our last bulletin featured detailed explanations on the latest measures in force regarding the U.S. travel ban that troubled some of our members. We will continue to provide news and updates from trusted sources during this crisis. It’s only if we act responsibly together that we will minimize the death toll among the most fragile people. Don’t forget to wash your hands regularly.

Stay safe and healthy!
